HARTFORD — Former Naugatuck Burgess Eileen Bronko was recently appointed to the Children’s Behavioral Health Advisory Committee.
“Eileen has spent many years tirelessly advocating for the wellbeing of Connecticut’s children and her experience will prove to be an invaluable resource to the vital work of the committee” State Rep. Rosa Rebimbas (R-70) said in a prepared statement congratulating Bronko on her appointment. “I’m pleased that her expertise is being recognized and that her voice of knowledge and reason will have a place in the committee when it comes to adolescent behavioral health in the state of Connecticut”
Bronko has spent her entire professional and personal life dedicated to the mental health of adolescents, including five years working in an in-patient psychiatric unit at Griffin Hospital before working as a caseworker for the state Department of Children and Families. Bronko is also the founder and director of The Tie That Binds, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to the support of American military personnel in the Gulf War and their families. Additionally, she is a foster parent.
The duties of the committee include serving as an advocate for children with serious emotional disturbances, reviewing the federal Mental Health Services Block Grant plan for the state and making recommendations concerning that plan.
