NAUGATUCK — The distribution of food at Naugatuck’s monthly mobile food pantry will be handled differently this month due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The food pantry is open from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Naugatuck Event Center, 6 Rubber Ave. People will not be allowed into the building. Volunteers will set up a check-in point in the parking lot for people to let volunteers know how many families they are picking up food for from the pantry. The number of families will be written on the windshield of people’s cars in a car safe wax, then people will drive to another area where volunteers will load food into their cars. People won’t be allowed to leave their cars and are asked to make space in the trunks of their cars for the food.

There will be a separate designated pick-up area for people who walk to the food pantry to pick up food.
