First responders extricate driver after accident

NAUGATUCK — A two-vehicle crash caused delays near exit 26 along Route 8 north on Tuesday.

Capt. Albert Beltrami of the Naugatuck Fire Department said firefighters responded to the collision between a white work van and a tractor trailer around 3 p.m. Beltrami said the driver of the van was pinned inside the vehicle and firefighters along with state police had to extricate the driver from the vehicle.

Beltrami said the driver of the work van was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His condition was unknown. Both lanes near exit 26 were closed momentarily.
