BEACON FALLS — Firefighters quickly doused a fire in a detached carport Saturday at 250 Blackberry Hill Road.

Firefighters responded to the home shortly after 9 a.m. When firefighters arrived on the scene, a detached carport was on fire and a brush fire was spreading up a nearby hillside. The fire also spread to second car port next to the one on fire. Firefighters had the fire under control in less than 10 minutes, Beacon Hose Co. No. 1 Fire Chief Brian DeGeorge said.

The carport and its contents, which included lawn equipment and all-terrain vehicles, were destroyed by the fire, DeGeorge said. The fire melted the siding on the house, but it’s still livable, he said. No one was injured or displaced, he said.

DeGeorge, who is also the town’s fire marshal, said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
