PROSPECT — Three people, including two children, were displaced after a fire destroyed a second-floor bedroom in their residence Saturday morning.

Bill Lauber, chief of the Volunteer Fire Department of Prospect, said firefighters received a call just before 9:30 a.m. reporting a fire at 10B Waterbury Road.

Lauber said fire was showing from an upstairs bedroom when firefighters arrived on the scene. Crews extinguished the blaze in less than a half-hour, he said.

No one suffered injuries as a result of the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

While firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading throughout the home, Lauber said the house is uninhabitable because of smoke and water damage.

Fire crews from Bethany provided mutual aid on the scene, while units from Cheshire provided station coverage, Lauber said.
