NAUGATUCK — Firefighters and police officers responded to a fire at 44 Culver St. Wednesday morning.
Fire Chief Ken Hanks said the call came in at about 8:30 a.m.
The fire affected both the first and second floors, Hanks said. There was no visible fire outside when the department arrived and no other properties were at risk, he said.
According to Hanks the fire was put out fairly quickly.
The department rescued a man from the second floor who was unable to get out of his bed and he was taken to Waterbury Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Hanks said. A woman who also lives in the house refused medical treatment.
Hanks did not know the identity of the man and woman as of this post.
Hanks said the damage seemed repairable, but the couple will not be able to stay there Wednesday night.
The fire marshal is still investigating the cause of the fire, Hanks said.
