NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck will get into the holiday spirit this weekend with the borough’s annual Light the Night Downtown Festival.

The festival is Saturday from 3 to 9 p.m. along Church Street, between Maple Street and Rubber Avenue, and Old Firehouse Road. The festival will feature a tree lighting ceremony, hayrides, live music, vendors and ice sculpting demonstrations.

At 5 p.m., there will be a tree lighting ceremony on the town Green with Santa Claus. After the ceremony, children can head to the municipal parking lot on Church Street for hot cocoa and to visit Santa’s Cottage.

The Naugatuck High School Chamber singers will sing Christmas carols from 6 to 8 p.m., and there will be a fireworks show at 7:45 p.m.

The United Way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls’ 13th annual Festival of Trees will be open during the downtown festival. The Festival of Trees is at the Naugatuck Event Center, 6 Rubber Ave. There are additional viewing hours on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
