PROSPECT — Route 69 is closed near the Waterbury-Prospect border following a fatal car accident, police said.
Mayor Robert Chatfield said the accident occurred this morning about 500 feet over the border in Waterbury. Two people were killed, he said.
Traffic is being detoured onto Murphy Road, police said, and drivers should also use Scott Road to head into Waterbury.
No further information was immediately available on the accident.
