BEACON FALLS — An Ansonia and Naugatuck man escaped serious injury in a two-car crash on Route 8 early Thursday morning.

The driver of a 2007 Scion tC, Thomas Langrieger, 18, of 14 Jarvis Drive, Ansonia, complained of back pain but refused medical treatment, state police said. The other driver of a 1997 Honda Civic, Jeffrey R. Bowden, 32, of 360 City Hill St., Naugatuck, wasn’t injured, state police said.

According to state police, at 12:05 a.m. Langrieger and Bowden were both traveling north on Route 8 by Exit 25.

Langrieger moved to the right lane to allow Bowden to pass on the left, state police said. Once Bowden passed Langrieger, Bowden moved into the right lane and struck the front left quarter panel of Langrieger’s car, state police said. Both vehicles spun and lost control, striking the metal beam guardrail off the right shoulder, state police said.
