BEACON FALLS — A portion of Rice Lane is closed after a tractor-trailer took down live power lines and two utility poles.

The accident occurred at about 11:45 a.m. in the area of Rice Lane and Spruce Lane.

Beacon Hose Company No. 1 Fire Chief Brian DeGeorge said a tractor-trailer was driving down Rice Lane when power lines, which looked like they were hanging low following the last nor’easter, got caught on the top of the tractor-trailer. Two poles were pulled down as it continued down the street, he said.

DeGeorge said Eversource responded to the scene to cut the power so the driver could safely get out of the truck. He said no one was injured.

Power is out in the area. Eversource is reporting there are 105 customers without power in Beacon Falls.

Rice Lane is closed at Lorraine Drive as crews work to repairs the poles and restore power. The road will be closed until a repair can be made.
