Dog discovers bone fragments, determined not human remains

Police-badgeNAUGATUCK — A Naugatuck resident called police late Saturday night when the resident’s dog returned home with a bone.

Police responded to the home on Country Hollow Road and were unable to immediately identify the bone, according to a release issued by Naugatuck Police Department spokesman Lt. Bryan Cammarata.

Naugatuck police along with state police searched the area around the home Sunday morning and found more fragments, the release stated. The fragments were taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for evaluation. The office later confirmed that the bones are not human, the release stated. As of this post, no further details as to the origin of the bones were released.
