Disaster Recovery Centers open in Connecticut

HARTFORD — The Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) opened nine Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) at noon today to assist individuals, households, and businesses that suffered damage from Tropical Storm Irene and the subsequent flooding.

Residents are strongly encouraged to register first with FEMA and then come into the DRCs with follow up questions or concerns. They can register online at www.disasterassistance.gov or by calling 1-800- 621-FEMA (3362), (TTY 1-800-462-7585).

DRCs will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The DRCs are located in the following locations:

Groton Senior Center, 102 Newtown Road, Groton.

Police Headquarters, 6 Custom Drive, Old Saybrook.

Gateway Community College, Room 117- Cafeteria, 88 Bassett Road, North Haven.

Torrington Fire Headquarters, Meeting Room, 111 Water St. Torrington.

Community Center – Gym, 10 South Eagleville Road Storrs- Mansfield.

Quinebaug Valley Community College, 742 Upper Maple St., Danielson.

Western Greenwich Civic Center, Room 203, 449 Pemberwick Road, Greenwich.

Tunxis Community College, Cyber Café, 271 Scott Swamp Road, Farmington.

High Plains Community Center, Probate Court hearing room, 525 Orange Center Road, Orange.
