NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck High School DECA chapter is working with Buffalo Wild Wings in Waterbury on a fundraiser to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Waterbury.

The event, “Eat Wings, Raise Funds,” is April 21 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Buffalo Wild Wings, 315 Union St., Waterbury. Ten percent of the night’s proceeds, less drinks, will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Waterbury.

The event is being organized by Naugatuck High junior and DECA member Alexus Coney.

Coney worked with the Buffalo Wild Wings in Waterbury on a business operations research project for hospitality and tourism for the DECA state competition. Her project required that she identify and target an underserved generational group, which for Buffalo Wild Wings is children ages 5 to 13. She won first place for her project at the competition.

Coney said Eat Wings, Raise Funds highlights the importance in providing support to children through the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. She added that since the corporate side of Buffalo Wild Wings already had a community based relationship with Boys and Girls Clubs of America, she thought it natural to build a bridge to the local branch in Waterbury.

Coney is also working to have the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Waterbury considered for Buffalo Wild Wings ALL STAR grant, which will be awarded this October.
