Danbury man accused of having sex with minor

A Danbury man has been charged with having inappropriate sexual relations with a minor in Prospect.

Robert M. Belot, of Danbury, turned himself into Connecticut State Police Troop I in Bethany, Feb. 4. He’s facing multiple charges of sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

According to a press release issued by state police, Belot is accused of having inappropriate sexual relations with a minor. The incidents, the release stated, occurred in Prospect between 2007 and August of 2010.

The Central District Major Crime Squad investigated the case and obtained an arrest warrant for Belot.

Belot was charged with three counts of sexual assault in the second degree, five counts of sexual assault in the fourth degree, and eight counts of risk of injury or impairing the morals of children.

Belot was arraigned in Waterbury Superior Court. According to court records on the state Judicial Branch’s website, Belot, 74, was held on a $125,000 and is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 23.
