NAUGATUCK — Two cousins are taking their passion for consignment shopping and turning it into a business.
Waterbury resident Ana Lage and Debbie Selmani of Watertown are opening Two Cousin’s Closet Consignment Shop at 18 Church St. Monday. They are hoping to have a variety of clothing for men, women and children, as well as some house wares.
“We both love to shop at consignment shops,” Lage said. “We like style, we like fashion.”
Lage said her neighbor owns a consignment shop, which got her and Selmani thinking about possibly opening their own. The duo feels their passion for consignment shops can translate into running their own business.
“We thought we’d be good at it,” Lage said.
They chose to open their shop in Naugatuck because Lage was born and raised in the borough.
“She’s comfortable with the area. She knows the people. She was raised here. She still has a lot of family here,” Selmani said.
The co-owners of the shop were attracted to the location on Church Street for what they see as a host of positive factors.
“We like the size of the store. We knew it had potential,” Lage said.
Selmani added, “We like that it is walkable. We think there will be a lot of foot traffic up and down this road.”
The cousins are hoping to have a variety of clothing for men, women, and children, as well as some house wares. People can also bring their clothes down to the shop and they will sell the clothes for them.
