HARTFORD — State Rep. Theresa Conroy (D-105) was sworn in Wednesday at the Capitol during the opening day ceremony of the 2013 legislative session.

Conroy, a Seymour resident who defeated Republican incumbent Len Greene Jr. on Election Day, returned to the seat she held from 2008 to 2010. The 105th House District represents Beacon Falls, Seymour and a portion of Derby.

“It is an honor to represent Seymour, Beacon Falls and Derby in the General Assembly,” Conroy said in a press release.

Speaker of the House Brendan Sharkey named Conroy, an advanced practice registered nurse, to the legislature’s Public Health Committee.

“I wanted Theresa’s strong voice and expertise on the Public Health Committee,” Sharkey said in a statement. “With more than 30 years as a healthcare professional, Theresa Conroy brings real-world experience to public health policy discussions.”

Conroy will also serve on the Government, Administration & Elections and Education committees and expects to remain an advocate for veterans’ issues.
