NAUGATUCK — The third and final phase of the Fawn Meadow subdivision is set to move forward.

Earlier this year Northeastern Development, which owns the subdivision, requested a five-year extension on its contract, which was to expire this year.

The original contract gave the company 10 years to finish the subdivision, which is located in the Indian Hills area of Naugatuck.

The borough’s Planning Commission approved the extension last month with two conditions.

The first condition was that Northeast Development has to provide formats for easements and deeds for the borough’s engineer and attorney to review. The second condition was that Northeast Development has to submit a subdivision performance bond and a letter of credit. Both the bond and the letter need to be reviewed by the borough’s engineer and attorney and be approved by the Planning Commission.

During the public hearing leading up to this approval residents voiced concerns over the amount of water that has been flowing onto their properties, which are downhill from the subdivision, since the beginning of the construction.

Steve Poirier, of 3 Longwood Drive, told the commission during its July meeting that there has been so much water coming onto his property that he can not use it anymore.

During the commission’s October meeting, Northeastern Development owner Bill Bette explained that the increased water was not a direct result of the construction they had been doing at Fawn Meadow. However, he said he would run a drainage pipe that would help alleviate the water problem.
