We are proud to announce that the Citizen’s News sports staff received four awards from the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists recently.

Sports writer Kyle Brennan won first place in the sports news community non-daily category for his story “Season in doubt after appendectomy.”

Brennan also received honorable mentions in the sports column community non-daily category for his column, “Slow-pitch softballer’s take-no-prisoners attitude yields big stats, tournament wins,” and in the sports feature community non-daily category for his story, “Death of a three-sport athlete.”

Our sports staff won first place in the sports feature special supplement category for our special “All-Decade” sports section.

We would like to take this time to congratulate Kyle and our sports staff for their achievements, and to thank our readers. We look forward to bringing you more award-winning journalism in the year ahead.
