NAUGATUCK — The Zoning Commission last month approved a change of use application to clear the way for a restaurant to open at a former dry cleaners on South Main Street.

Vesel Nasufi, who owns Vinny’s Restaurant and Pizza on Prospect Street with his brother, Remzi Nasufi, applied for the change.

Town Planner Sue Goggin told the commission the restaurant plans to move into the former DeCarlo’s Thrifty Cleaners and Formal Wear at 535 South Main St. She said the restaurant will be for takeout and delivery only.

A message left for Vesel Nasufi seeking comment was not returned as of this post.

In July 2014, Vesel and Remzi Nasufi received approval for plans to tear down their restaurant and a multifamily home at 42 Prospect St. and build a 4,500-square-foot building including a convenience store, a gas station and a Dunkin’ Donuts. The combined 0.7 acre parcel of land also included 48 Prospect St., a parking lot, and 0 Golden Hill Road, a 35-foot strip of land.

They received an extension on the project last year. The four lots are currently for sale, according to a listing on Century21.com, for $1.1 million. The listing states that the parcels are approved for a “gas station and donut shop” and that “owner financing is available and owner will consider a joint venture.”
