NAUGATUCK — Police reminded residents to be vigilant and avoid idling their cars after a running Honda CR-V was stolen from a driveway on Mulberry Street on Wednesday morning.

Police said the theft happened at about 8 a.m. in the 200 block of Mulberry Street. Video released by police shows a white vehicle stop in front of the home and a passenger got out. The suspect, a man, gets into the running Honda and both cars speed off.

Police said the Honda was recovered later Wednesday on Luke Street in Waterbury.

Police released the footage to show the public how “brazen” car thieves are and how quickly a car can be stolen. Police advised residents to avoid idling their vehicles, take their keys and remove valuables from their cars.

Police ask anyone with information on the theft to call the Naugatuck Police Department at 203-729-5221 or the department’s confidential tip line at 203-720-1010.
