Why are you running for this position?

“I have always been interested in the history of Naugatuck. The Town Clerk’s office is a narrative history of Naugatuck’s land ownership along with other vital records such as birth, death, marriage and veteran information. The Town Clerk’s office is also vital to the electoral process. Sophie Morton has done an exemplarily job in this position. It is my goal to maintain and continue the integrity of this office.”

Have you held public office in the past? If so, what positions and when?

“I have never held an elected position. I currently held the position of Mayoral Aide to Mayor Robert Mezzo since May of 2009. I have served our community in the past as a member of a previous Charter Revision Committee, Middle School Building Committee and Portable Classroom Installation Committee under a previous administration.”

What experience makes you qualified for this position?

“I have held key managerial positions throughout my career. Each of these positions has allowed me to develop skills of which I will utilize in the position of Town Clerk. These skills include responsibilities of customer service, inventory management, creativity, budgetary accountability and direct employee supervision. In my current position as Mayor’s Aide, I have gained a vast amount of experience and knowledge about programs and services available to our citizens. I am confident that my education background and work history experience will allow me to successfully manage the Town Clerk’s office for the citizens of Naugatuck.”

If elected, what are your priorities and goals?

“My priorities would be to maintain the current standards of the office. The current staff of the Town Clerk’s office is educated and dedicated to serving their customers. I will value their experience and ideas as we strive to meet the day to day requirements and learn how we can increase the efficiency of the office to better serve our residents and customers.”
