NAUGATUCK — Democratic burgess candidate Peg Sheehy dropped out of the race Monday.

In a letter filed to Town Clerk Michelle Dowling, Sheehy wrote that she was hospitalized last week and does not have the physical strength to continue her campaign.

She wrote that she would root for all the Democratic candidates, including Mayor Robert Mezzo, from the sidelines.

“As the Terminator says, I will be back when I feel better and stronger,” Sheehy wrote.

Paul Bonaldi, a Democratic candidate for the Zoning Commission, ended his candidacy the same day, Dowling said. Municipal elections will be held Nov. 5.
