Hartley receives endorsements for re-election

HARTFORD — The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Connecticut Save America’s Free Enterprise (SAFE) Trust has endorsed state Sen. Joan Hartley (D-15) for re-election

The NFIB is a small business association with offices in Washington, D.C. and all 50 state capitals.

“The endorsement from the NFIB is significant. They are a respected and powerful organization that plays a critical role in supporting America’s free enterprise system. I am honored by their endorsement of my record as a state senator,” Hartley said in a press release.

Hartley has also been endorsed for re-election by the Connecticut State Police Union and the CT Realtors Association.

“This endorsement comes as a result of your continued support for public safety and the issues our union has faced in the past. Your commitment to public safety and trooper safety is truly appreciated by the entire union membership,” Andrew Matthews, president of the Connecticut State Police Union, wrote in an endorsement letter.

The CT Realtors Association represents over 15,000 members in all aspects of real estate in Connecticut.

“You have been a champion of real estate issues during the past session, and we appreciate the efforts you’ve made on behalf of Connecticut’s home and property owners,” the endorsement letter states.

The Association of Retired Teachers of Connecticut has also endorsed Hartley for re-election. The association is a nonprofit organization of retired teachers that advocates on behalf of Connecticut’s 33,000 retired teachers.

Hartley also received endorsements from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 15 and the Teamsters Local Union 677.

“I am honored by their belief in my candidacy, and I am inspired to serve all the people of Connecticut,” said Hartley in a press release in response to the AFSCME endorsement.

DeLauro endorses Conroy

HARTFORD — Congresswomen Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) has endorsed state rep. Theresa Conroy (D-105) for re-election.

“Theresa is a proven leader who is committed to the people of her district,” DeLauro said in a press release. “She has led the charge for more livable communities for seniors and the disabled and has been a strong advocate for more access to quality, affordable health care.

“As a health care professional and a legislator, Theresa has used her expertise as a practitioner to shape the state’s health policies making sure Connecticut residents have access to the care they need.”

DeLauro also cited Conroy’s commitment to transportation improvements in the
Naugatuck Valley and that Conroy has been working with manufacturers and technical schools to improve the workforce in Connecticut.

Connecticut Realtors endorse Crisco

HARTFORD — State Sen. Joe Crisco (D-17) has been endorsed for re-election by the Connecticut Realtors.

Connecticut Realtors represents over 15,000 real estate professionals engaged in all aspects of the real estate business.

“I am honored to receive the endorsement from an association who are dedicated to bettering business and maintaining the preservation of private property rights,” Crisco said in a press release.

Connecticut Realtors President Debra Chamberlain said in the release, “Joe was a champion of real estate issues during the past legislative session, and we appreciate the efforts you’ve made on behalf of Connecticut’s home and property owners.”

Hartley receives perfect score from league

HARTFORD — State Sen. Joan Hartley (D-15) has received a perfect score from The Connecticut League of Conservation Voters on its 2014 Environmental Scorecard.

The scorecard rates state legislators by the votes they have cast on key environmental bills.

“Protecting Connecticut’s environment is vital to preserving our high quality of life here in Connecticut,” said Hartley in a press release. “Our diverse forest, waterways and wildlife provide our state with unique recreational opportunities, local food production and hands on educational teaching. I am proud to bring attention to the needs and protection of Connecticut’s natural surroundings.”
