NAUGATUCK — The 35th annual Harvest Moon Festival will rise this weekend in the borough.

The festival, which is sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 102, is Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the Naugatuck Green.

The festival features nearly 90 vendors selling varieties of handmade crafts and food, including fried dough made by Boy Scout Troop 102. Local community service groups will be on hand to give out information and free screenings.

In addition, there will be music throughout the festival. On Friday, DJ Jazzy Kat will play music in the gazebo during the day, and there will be live music by rock band ‘60s Satisfaction from 6 to 8 p.m. On Saturday, DJ Seth Carley will play music from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., and The Hollister Thompson Band will perform from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

In addition to all the events happening during the festival, Harvest Moon Festival Chairman Ray Blum said local scouting, school and church groups use this event as a fundraiser. He said the festival benefits residents, vendors and non-profit organizations alike.

“In essence, the festival is good for everyone,” Blum said. “A win-win all around.”

Blum encouraged people to come down to the Green and see what the festival has to offer.

“We hope that families come on down, bring the kids, get some fresh air, support the vendors, and enjoy a day outside away from the electronic devices. We are looking forward to another great event,” Blum said.
