Borough youths arrested after fake gun shown

NAUGATUCK — Two 13-year-old borough boys were arrested Sunday night after an argument escalated into shooting threats.

According to police, the two boys were arguing Sunday night at the home of one of the boys, when one of them pointed a gun at the other and threatened to shoot him. After police arrived at the scene it was determined that the gun was an air-soft gun, police said.

The boy that had the air-soft gun was charged with breach of peace, threatening and brandishing a facsimile firearm.

After having the gun pointed at him, police said, the other boy pretended to call a friend to show up at the scene with a pistol. He was charged with breach of peace and threatening.

Both boys, who were not identified due to their age, were given June 8 court dates to appear Waterbury Juvenile Court and released to the custody of their parents.
