NAUGATUCK — Borough resident Diane Carangelo-Gruner is seeking the public’s support to help her meet the Cake Boss.

Carangelo-Gruner entered the Waterbury Republican American’s Meet the Cake Boss contest.

Contestants upload a photo of their best cake and provide a brief description about what went into the cake, then it’s up to voters to vote for their favorite cake. First place wins a meeting with the Cake Boss Buddy Valastro on stage during his show Nov. 25 at the Warner Theater in Torrington.

Carangelo-Gruner submitted a picture of a cake she made for her grandmother’s 100th birthday in February. Her grandmother passed away March 31. Carangelo-Gruner said she entered the contest as a tribute to her grandmother.

“My grandmother wanted her favorite flowers, pink, yellow, and white daisies, which I handmade about 40 out of gum paste, about 30 were used on the cake. The yellow chiffon cake and buttercream frosting are all from scratch and the cake, numbers, and flowers took about 15 total hours to execute,” Carangelo-Gruner said.
