SEYMOUR — A Naugatuck woman has been arrested after police said she stole items from a greeting card store in the Klarides Shopping Plaza on Route 67, fled and hid inside the bathroom of another store in the plaza.

Connie Hutton, 56, of 51 Patricia Lane, was charged with third-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny. She was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Oct. 17 at Derby Superior Court.

Police said on Monday a staff member at Country Card Corner at 7 Klarides Village Drive saw Hutton shoplifting and confronted her. The two struggled briefly, and Hutton ran out of the store with some stolen items in her purse, police said.

Police found Hutton inside the bathroom at Ocean State Job Lot, where police said she damaged a porcelain toilet seat. In that matter, she was charged with third-degree criminal mischief.
