NAUGATUCK — Borough residents can pile tree branches that fell from the Nor’easter near the curb for pick-up.

Beginning Nov. 14, the Department of Public Works will begin collecting tree branches from properties that are abutting borough-maintained roads. Only debris from the storm will be picked up and yard waste not from the storm won’t be collected.

Debris should be placed five to 10 feet from the edge of the road. Debris shouldn’t be placed near, or obstruct access to, any sidewalks utility poles or wires, fire hydrants, mailboxes, or overhanging trees.

Borough crews will try to collect debris following the trash collection schedule, but the Public Works Department can’t guarantee the timing of pick up. Residents asked to have debris placed by Nov. 14 and once the crews complete an area they will not return.

Borough leaf collection will be on schedule and picked up on resident’s collection day with a different truck the weeks of Nov. 14 through Nov. 18 and Nov. 28 through Dec. 2. Residents are asked to not mix bagged leaves with trash or tree debris.

The public will be notified when FEMA is available for claims regarding property damage and storm related costs incurred due to Storm Alfred.
