NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck will begin its annual spring street sweeping program today.

The program will begin the downtown area before branching out to various other locations throughout the borough starting on the west side of town — the areas around Hunter’s Mountain, Andrew Mountain, and Rubber Avenue Ext. Locations to be swept will be published in advance in local newspapers.

All borough residents and merchants are encouraged to sweep their sidewalks into the gutter line in advance of sweeping crews arriving. Sand should not be swept into piles, as the sweeper cannot pick up piles. Any litter, debris or leaves should be separated and disposed of normally in the trash. After areas are publicized, residents are asked to get their cars off of the street to ensure all streets are done to completion.
