Borough offering home energy program

NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck is offering Home Energy Solutions, an Energize Connecticut program, for a limited time at no cost for up to the first 67 homeowners that sign up.

Under the program, authorized and insured contractors, JRS Building and Remodeling and Maximum Home Performance, will visit homes and make spot improvements intended to lower energy bills.

During the visit, the average household receives about $1,000 in products and services, including an on-site energy assessment of their home, professional air sealing to get rid of drafts and cold spots, and safety tests of heating equipment, a press release stated.

After the visit, most customers save about $200 every year on their energy bills, the press release stated.

The cost to participate is normally $149, but the borough is using its Bright Idea Grant to pay that fee for up to 67 residents that call and sign up by March 23. The remaining cost is covered through Energize Connecticut. The program is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

For more information or to sign up, call JRS Building and Remodeling at 203-729-0403, or Maximum Home Performance at 877-827-9242 or 203-509-9843.

Income eligible households may receive this, plus additional services, at no cost. For more information, call 1-877-947-3873.
