NAUGATUCK — A 37-year-old Naugatuck man is facing multiple charges in connection with a road rage episode.

Brian Gallo, of 38 Highland Ave., was arrested Tuesday and charged with four counts of risk of injury to a minor, criminal mischief in the second degree, and disorderly conduct.

According to a release issued by the Naugatuck Police Department, officers responded to the intersection of Meadow Street and North Church Street shortly after 5:30 p.m.

Police said when the officers arrived Gallo was very agitated and yelling towards a 39-year-old Naugatuck woman, who was standing by her 2001 Lexus.

According to the release, the woman reported she was traveling south on North Church Street towards the four-way intersection at Meadow Street. A red 2007 Ford Taraus, driven by Gallo, was pulled to the left with its right signal light on, police said. The woman thought Gallo was turning left and drove to the right of the car and started turning right at the same time Gallo was turning right, police said.

Police said Gallo then stopped his car in the road and got out. He became enraged and began to swear at the victim repeating over and over that he had his blinker light on, police said.

The woman tried to back up but couldn’t due to traffic, police said.

Gallo then got back into his car and began to drive away but suddenly stopped again and exited his car with a cup of water and ice, police said. Gallo walked towards the woman’s car and threw the cup at her but missed and hit her son’s friend, who was in the car with her son, instead.

The woman told Gallo to calm down, police said, since she had children in her car. Gallo’s wife and two juveniles were in his car at the time as well, according to police. Police said Gallo continued yelling and swearing at the woman and repeatedly went back to his car to get more items to throw at her car. One of the times, police said, Gallo threw a bottle that struck and broke the victim’s windshield.

The woman tried to drive away again but was again cut off by Gallo, police said, who kept taunting her until officers arrived on the scene.

Gallo was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and given a court date of Aug. 10.
