NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck officials are holding an informational meeting Tuesday on the plans to operate a new transfer station on Andrew Avenue.

Officials plan to move the transfer station from the corner of Rubber Avenue and Andrew Avenue to the former Risdon property, which the borough owns, at 34 Andrew Ave. Officials are seeking a permit from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to operate the new transfer station.

Officials will discuss the plan through a Zoom conference at 6 p.m. The public can log in using the meeting ID 95291425298 and password 585348. The public can call into the meeting by calling 1-929-205-6099 and using the meeting ID.

In the long run, borough officials are planning to build a new recycling center on a 13.4-acre, borough-owned parcel off School Street Extension. Moving the transfer station, at least temporality, to the former Risdon property would allow the borough to sell the 1.76-acre lot where the transfer station is now. Officials have said there are developers interested in buying the land.
