Borough couple to receive Foley Award

Tuttle-BuildingNAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck Parent School Council has selected Mike and Denise Kinne as this year’s recipients of the Raymond K. Foley Award.

The Raymond K. Foley Award honors an individual or group who has demonstrated outstanding service and unselfish dedication contributing to the betterment of Naugatuck children.

The Kinnes have been heavily involved with the Naugatuck High School soccer booster club for eight years, including serving as treasurer, vice president and president. They couple also brought the Naugatuck High School boys basketball booster club back to life five years ago.

Denise Kinne ran all the Naugatuck High senior night and post-season banquet plans and finances for soccer, basketball and baseball from 2008 to 2012.

The Kinnes have voluntarily served as parent representatives on coaching interview committees and as part of the NHS athletics disciplinary review board. They have also organized a variety of profitable fundraisers for Naugatuck High sports programs.

The Kinnes have been married for 29 years and have lived in Naugatuck since 1988. They have three sons, Sean 27, Ryan 23 and Nolan 18.

Mike Kinne has been working in the banking industry for over 30 years and is currently CEO of FD Community Federal Credit Union in Waterbury.

Denise Kinne has worked for 24 years in the finance department of Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury.

The couple will be honored at the annual Foley Award Dinner on May 7 at the Crystal Room in Naugatuck. Tickets are $30 and are available at all Naugatuck public schools, the Tuttle Building and Town Hall. Tickets will be on sale until May 1.
