NAUGATUCK — During the month of August, the Whittemore Library will be featuring the artwork of Naugatuck resident Keith Brough.

Brough received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Hartford Art School and a Juris Doctorate from Hofstra University School of Law. Brough draws his inspiration from medieval illuminated manuscripts, the surrealist collages of Max Ernst and the philosophy and fiction of Georges Bataille. Authors Tom Philips and William S. Burroughs and historian Caroline Walker Bynum also guide Brough’s artistic hand.

The Whittemore Library is inviting local artists to display their artwork on the Whittemore Gallery Wall on the library’s main floor. Special consideration is given to residents of Naugatuck and groups are invited to display artwork on the condition that a representative of the group coordinates the exhibit with library staff. Exhibits run for about a month and are dependant on and subject to the library’s calendar of events.

The coordinator of art exhibits will begin scheduling art shows for the 2012 calendar year beginning in September.
