REGION 16 — The Region 16 Board of Education last week approved hiring Michele Raynor as the district’s new director of curriculum, instruction and assessments.
Raynor started in the district, which oversees schools in Beacon Falls and Prospect, on Monday. She has worked in education for 27 years and spent the last 14 years in an administrative capacity, Superintendent of Schools Michael Yamin states in a letter announcing the hire.
Raynor most recently worked as a middle school principal in Griswold. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, educator certification in biology/general science 7-12, and Connecticut professional educator administrators certification. She has been an adjunct professor at the University of Saint Joseph, Albertus Magnus College and Yale University, the letter states.
Raynor’s salary is $132,419, and the position is part of the administrators’ union.
“Her experience as a principal, department chairperson and classroom teacher will serve our region well and support our efforts to collectively and collaboratively drive programmatic issues through data-driven decision making, increase the academic achievement of our students and meet the needs of our faculty and staff,” Yamin states in the letter.
