BEACON FALLS — A car stolen from a gas station in Beacon Falls Tuesday was found Wednesday in Waterbury.

According to a press release issued by Connecticut State Police Troop I in Bethany, a black 2013 Hyundai Sonata was stolen from the parking lot of Irving Mart on North Main Street at about 1:30 p.m. The car has a push button ignition, and the fob was left in the unlocked car, according to police.

Video surveillance showed two Hispanic males jumping into the car and speeding off, police reported.

The owner of the car came to the Beacon Falls Resident State Trooper’s office Wednesday to report Hyundai’s Blue Link service pinged the car’s GPS in Waterbury, the release stated. Officers then went to Waterbury to find the car. With the assistance of the Blue Link technician, police reported, officers were eventually able to locate the car behind 43 Woodlawn Terrace, a small apartment complex.

Police searched the area but found nothing, according to the release. A track from the car conducted by a police dog led to the front parking lot, the release stated. No further information was released, and the case remains open.
