NAUGATUCK — When Margi Vance couldn’t find the type of store she wanted, she created one.

Vance opened Peach Blossom Boutique and Gifts at 175 Church St. The store, which held a grand opening June 29, sells women’s clothing, accessories and gift items.

“It was always a dream of mine to open a gift shop. The boutique clothes part came a little later, but I am loving it. It is always something I wanted to do, so I decided to go for it,” Vance said.

Vance, a Beacon Falls resident, has a background in accounting. Peach Blossom is her first venture as a business owner.

“There have been years where I would think ‘I wish there was a place I could go to like a boutique and pick up clothes and things nearby without having to go to a mall.’ I hate going to the mall. So I kind of did it. I thought nobody else did it and I wanted that to be here, so I’ll do it myself,” Vance said.

Vance said she chose to locate her business on Church Street because she loves the borough’s downtown.

“I love it here. I really do. I love that the Green is there. I think downtown is adorable,” Vance said. “I think Church Street is so adorable and it has so much potential and history.”

Vance hopes her business, and the other stores downtown, can help attract more businesses to Church Street and create a vibrant downtown.

“I really think and hope that me, and other business that have recently come here, can inspire new businesses to come here and really make it the downtown it really should be,” Vance said.
