BEACON FALLS — A new phone system was installed at Town Hall Tuesday.
The new phone system features an automated attendant answering service that will allow the caller to select an extension to call and leave a voice-mail. Voice-mail is being setup for each Town Hall department. In addition to auto attendant and voice-mail, the new system is programmed to the Town Hall’s business hours, so that messages can be left after hours.
Additional features like email integration may be added later if services warrant it. The town is still working out the fine details of routing calls and messages.
In the past, no one would answer the phones at Town Hall if employees were busy or away from their desks.
The new main number for Town Hall is (203) 729-4340. Other direct dial numbers and internal extensions will be published in the near future.
Most of the Direct Dial telephone numbers remain the same as listed in the Blue Pages of the local telephone book. Two changes to note:
1) The previous Selectman’s Office phone number is now the Main Number to reach all departments at Town Hall. During normal business hours this phone will be answered and your call will be directed to the appropriate department. After business hours, the Automated Attendant will guide you select an option to be connected to that department. The automated options/selections are listed bellow.
2) To make a ride appointment for the Mini-Bus, dial 203-729-4340 and request the mini-bus at extension 2041 or dial 2041. In the near future the automated attendant Option ‘9’ will connect you to the mini-bus extension. FYI: The current Mini-Bus phone number is scheduled to be disconnected within the next two weeks.
