Beacon Falls man charged with sexual assault

BEACON FALLS — Police charged a 25-year-old town man Tuesday with sexual assault.

John Atkins, 343 Rimmon Hill Road, was arrested on a warrant at the Troop I state police barracks in Bethany and charged with first-degree sexual assault and first-degree unlawful restraint. The victim, who wasn’t identified, reported the alleged assault to police on Sept. 28, a press release stated.

The arrest warrant was sealed, and no further information was released. Atkins appeared in Derby Superior Court on Wednesday. He was held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 25, according to the state Judicial Branch’s website.
