BEACON FALLS — Marsha Durley has tendered her resignation as Beacon Falls librarian for the second time this year.

Durley, 67, who had worked at the library for over 14 years, originally planned on retiring in July. However, on what was supposed to be her last day, Durley decided to continue with the library for a while longer.

Less than two months later Durley submitted another letter of resignation and, on Sept. 26, retired from the position. Assistant Librarian Sue Dowdell has been the acting librarian in Durley’s absence.

The town posted the position and accepted applications until Oct. 4, First Selectman Gerard Smith said. Smith said the town only received one in-house application, but was not at liberty to say who submitted it.

Smith said the town will review the application and discuss the next step in hiring a permanent librarian.
