BEACON FALLS — The Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance held a joint budget workshop Jan. 26 to get a “30-foot view” of departmental budget proposals.

Officials did not delve deep into the budget proposals. Rather, department heads as well as board and commission members briefly touched on some of the larger projects they plan to propose, including repairs to the roof at Town Hall that are estimated to cost between $30,000 and $50,000, $70,000 for the first payment for a company to conduct a property revaluation, and $10,000 for a generator for a radio tower site on Rimmon Hill Road used by police, fire and EMS for communication.

The municipal operating budget this fiscal year is $7.8 million. The town’s total budget, which includes the Region 16 school budget, is $22.6 million.

The Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance are scheduled to start in-depth budget workshops Feb. 16. A final budget proposal will be drafted in May, and the Board of Selectmen is set to vote on the budget in June.
