Beacon Falls issues snow removal policy

BEACON FALLS — The town of Beacon Falls issued a reminder to residents about its snow removal policy.

The policy states the town will clear roads of snow from curb to curb and residents are advised to wait until clearing their sidewalk and driveway until town crews are completely finished to avoid having to clear them multiple times.

The Department of Public Works will not repair or replace objects in a street rights-of way that are damaged by cast from a snowplow unless there is evidence of neglect. The Department of Public Works will also not repair or replace objects in a street rights-of way that are struck by a snowplow unless there is evidence of neglect, they are mailboxes located 20 inches or more from the edge of the street with physical evidence to support it was hit by a town plow, or the objects were 20 inches or more from the edge of the street with physical evidence to support it was hit by a town plow and the objects were permitted in writing by the town to be in a street right-of-way.

Residents are responsible for clearing in front of their mailboxes and prohibited from snow or ice on any public sidewalk or roadway.
