Seymour going pink for breast cancer awareness

SEYMOUR — Oct. 17 is pink day in Seymour — actually it’s Seymour Pink Day.

The annual event, which started in 2006, is to raise awareness about breast cancer and organized by Seymour Pink. The organization runs numerous fundraising events in support of breast cancer research.

Among the events is the 3rd Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. The walk asks men to walk one mile to promote breast cancer awareness and the men are encouraged to wear high heels. The walk will be held Oct. 14 beginning at 1 p.m. at the Seymour Community Center, 20 Pine St. Registration is $30. Registration, which is from 12 to 12:30 p.m., can be done the day of the event.

Leading up to Seymour Pink Day pink banners will be hung around town and merchants will decorate their stores in pink. For more information, visit www.seymourpink.com.

TEAM to hold annual meeting

DERBY — TEAM Inc. will host its 47th Annual Meeting to be held Oct. 17 at John J. Sullivan’s Restaurant in Ansonia.

OLLI hosting author talk

WATERBURY — The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Connecticut in Waterbury has announced an author talk with William Mann.

The talk will be on Mann’s book, “Hello, Gorgeous,” which focuses on the life of Barbra Streisand. The talk will be held Oct. 16, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., in the first floor multipurpose room at the University of Connecticut, 99 East Main St. The event is free and open to the public.
