CNLogo1Free screenings highlight Men’s Day of Health

DERBY — Griffin Hospital is holding a Men’s Day of Health June 29 as part of its Health Initiative.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Sports Center of Connecticut, 784 River Road, Shelton. Held in recognition of Men’s Health Month, the event is entitled “The Nuts & Bolts of Men’s Health” and will feature a series of health information tables and free health screenings.

Symphony orchestra to perform

WATERBURY — The Cheshire Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Richard Brooks will perform a concert with Peter Ferreira and his ensemble June 28 at 7:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 88 Cooke St., Waterbury.

Salvation Army seeking volunteers for LemonAid Days

WATERBURY — The Salvation Army of Greater Waterbury offered an open invitation youth groups, families and individuals to take part in the LemonAid Days Campaign.

The campaign is a fundraiser during which people sell lemonade at a stand to raise money and awareness for homeless children living in the organization’s family emergency shelter.

Anyone interested in participating will be given a publicity kit containing the information and promotional material they’ll need to get started. The campaign runs through July 19 and a grand finale event will be held July 20 for all participants at Chase Park in Waterbury.

Grange hosting ham dinner

CHESHIRE — The Cheshire Grange has scheduled a ham dinner for June 29 at 6 p.m. in the Grange Hall, 44 Wallingford Road.

Legion of Christ hosting sports camp

CHESHIRE — The Legion of Christ College, 475 Oak Ave., is hosting a summer sports camp for boys ages 7 to 14.

The camp will be held July 29 through Aug. 2 at the Legion of Christ College. The Brothers’ Sports Camp will run daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fee is 4200 and includes lunch, snacks and drinks. Space is limited.

Program on keeping seniors safe

WATERBURY — The Village at East Farms will host the informational program “Keeping Seniors Safe” July 2 at 10 a.m.

Waterbury church beginning monthly dinners

Church to begin monthly dinners

WATERBURY — Beginning this month, South Congregational Church, 160 Piedmont St., will be hosting monthly dinners the last Saturday of the month with the exception of October and May.

Derby Historical Society holding annual Silver Tea

ANSONIA — The Derby Historical Society is hosting its 23rd Annual Silver Tea July 8, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Molto Bene, 557 Wakelee Ave.
