I-Am-FlyerFilm screening to raise awareness of interconnectedness of communities

WATERBURY — The Greater Waterbury 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness is sponsoring a free showing of the film, “I AM.”

“I AM” is a film directed by Tom Shadyac. In his the film, Shadyac asks some of today’s most profound thinkers, two questions, “What’s wrong with our world,” and “What can we do about it?” Shadyac appears in the film as a character, commentator, guide and even, at times, guinea pig.

Shadyac will appear via Skype to take questions from the audience and share his personal thoughts.

The Greater Waterbury 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness is sponsoring this event to help raise awareness. A montage of interviews featuring individuals and families who received assistance at Project Homeless Connect will also be shown.

“I AM” will be shown Feb. 22 at the Palace Theater, 100 East Main St. Doors will open at 6 p.m. For tickets, call the Palace Theater box office at (203) 755-4700.

ADD/ADHD support group to meet

WOLCOTT — The monthly meeting of an ADD/ADHD support group in Wolcott will be held Tuesday.

The group will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Wolcott Activity and Learning Center. The group will discuss natural options and strategies to manage ADD/ADHD symptoms. Volunteers sought for MDA camp

HAMDEN —The Muscular Dystrophy Association seeking volunteer counselors for a weeklong MDA summer camp in August to assist young people with muscular dystrophy and related diseases at Camp Hemlocks in Hebron.

Volunteer counselors must be at least 18 years old and able to lift and care for a young person between the ages of 6 and 17. Counselors also assist campers with recreational activities such as arts and crafts, swimming and archery.

Seymour church launches phone-in prayer ministry

SEYMOUR — The Seymour United Methodist Church has introduced a new phone-in prayer ministry.

This ministry provides an opportunity for people to call a special line for prayer with a live person between the hours of 8 and 10 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Requests can also be recorded at any time. Calls are confidential. Those wishing prayer are invited to call (203) 888-9381.

Seymour church selling pierogies

SEYMOUR — Seymour Congregational Church is having a pierogi sale as part of its taste of Poland event.

Homemade pierogies, potato with cheese or sauerkraut, are $6 a dozen every Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. until Good Friday. The church is located at the intersection of Broad Street and Derby Avenue.
