Applications are now being accepted for the Camille B. Perugini Charitable Trust annual scholarship.
The scholarship is available to all Naugatuck, Prospect, Beacon Falls, Wolcott and local area high school seniors who demonstrate scholastic achievement, community involvement and financial need.
The scholarship was created 15 years ago in memory of the late Camille B. Perugini. Perugini, a lifelong resident of Prospect, attended all Prospect grammar schools and graduated in 1988 from Wolcott High School. Perugini was able to attend Boston College and achieve her goals of becoming a teacher because of the generous scholarships she received as a Wolcott High School graduate.
Perugini passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 6, 1997 after a rare, undiagnosed condition caused her heart to fail.
To date, the scholarship committee has awarded 130 scholarships to area high school students. The total amount awarded since the scholarships’ inception in 1998 exceeds $178,000.
Scholarships can range up to $2,000 per recipient and there will be multiple winners.
Applications are available at most area high school guidance offices, or can be requested from attorney Carla M. Perugini Erickson via mail at P.O. Box 7299, Prospect, CT 06712, calling (203) 527-9307 or emailing Carla.erickson@sbcglobal.net.
Applications need to be returned by April 30. Applications can be mailed to attorney Carla M. Perugini Erickson via mail at, P.O. Box 7299, Prospect, CT 06712.
