BEACON FALLS — The assessor’s office is accepting applications for the Elderly Homeowners/Disabled Tax Relief Program.
The filing period runs through May 15.
To qualify for the program, the applicant must be 65 years old, owned their primary residence for at least one year and reside at the property.
Permanently and totally disabled individuals, as defined by Social Security, are eligible to receive benefits under the program regardless of age, provided all other criteria are met.
The income limits for the program are $34,600 for a single person or $42,290 for a married couple. Proof of 2014 income must be presented at time of application.
Those who are currently on the program, and are required to file, will receive a notice from the assessor’s office.
