BEACON FALLS — The town of Beacon Falls is seeking interested applicants for a low and moderate income home housing rehabilitation program in order to establish a waiting list.

The town is applying for a $300,000 grant from the Department of Economic and Community Development to fund the program and needs to build a waiting list as part of the application.

If the town receives the grant, the program will provide assistance to qualifying low and moderate income residents to make needed renovations to their homes. Eligible repairs under the program include septic improvements, roof replacements, energy efficient upgrades, window replacements, remediation of lead or asbestos hazards, and general home improvements.

The loan would be at 0 percent interest and would not have to be paid back to the town until the title changed hands, either by the homeowner selling the home or by the home being inherited upon the owner’s death.

The homeowner would have the option of paying back all or some of the loan so the full price wouldn’t be collected when the title changed hands.

For more information or to be put on the waiting list call Lisa Low of Lisa Low & Associates at (203) 888-5624 or Karen Wilson in the First Selectman’s Office at (203) 729-4340.
