NAUGATUCK — An anonymous good citizen helped a borough resident have a merry Christmas.

Michelle Clabaugh said she went to Walmart on New Haven Road recently to remove some items from her lay-away. Clabaugh said when she arrived, she was informed that the remainder of her lay-away, $130, had been paid off by an anonymous person.

“Now my kids can have a Christmas,” said Clabaugh, who was very thankful for the anonymous gift.

According to Walmart spokesperson LaToya Evans, this kind of charity is not an uncommon occurrence.

“We have seen these random acts of kindness from our customers from across the country,” Evans said. “This was also seen last year as well.”

Evans said that this is some what of a trend at Walmart stores around this time of year and that the company fully supports these random acts of kindness.

“We’re very happy that our customers have decided to give back to their neighborhoods and communities in this type of way,” Evans said.
