NAUGATUCK — The Zoning Commission last week accepted a special permit application for a Wendy’s Restaurant on Bridge Street.

The commission referred the application to the Planning Commission and set a hearing on the application for Jan. 15 at 6:15 p.m. at Naugatuck Town Hall, 229 Church St.

Restaurant Holdings, LLC of Michigan is seeking to build a 2,223-square-foot Wendy’s at 112 Bridge St. The roughly 2.3-acre parcel is owned by The Eastern Company, which will sell the land to Restaurant Holdings following approval of the special permit, the application states.

The application states there will be a drive-thru at the Wendy’s, which is proposed to be open from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily. Restaurant Holdings estimates the Wendy’s will have 650 customers per day and have 36 employees, according to the application.

Restaurant Holdings estimates the project will cost $2 million, according to the application. The Wendy’s is expected to take six months to build, if approved.
